This past election evoked many strong feelings on both sides of the fence. A lot of conservative Christians preferred President Bush, and some defended him vehemently. Whether their defense of him was right or not, it is sometimes easy to become so vehement in defending a position that people listening get turned off. A friend of mine was so turned off to the mud-slinging going on with the people surrounding the republican candidates that she voted for the democrat. One of her reasons was that she was so turned off to how the republicans bashed this candidate.
How do we defend our Lord? Do we win converts by our vehemence, or our actions? Do we spend more time proselytizing and less time listening?
This time, it was only the president who may have lost votes. Consider, as you represent Jesus Christ, who it is your audience will ultimately vote for
in all eternity.
