This poem is actually a song that God gave to me several years ago.
It basically talks about how that we Christians often take and take from God, then boast about what we have supposedly done.
While the song is humorous, it tells an important, and, often over-looked truth of how we should give thanks to God for our blessings, instead of bragging on ourselves.
I regret that I can't put the melody of the song on here at this time, as I have no equipment for designing midis.
This Thanksgiving, and throughout the holiday season, let's take time to thank God for all we have, and acknowledge Him in our lives.
Remember, God didn't give us feathers, so, let's not be God's turkey gobblers!
1. Sometimes we Christians like to think that we are number one,
We go around bragging to others about the things that, "I," have done:
Well, "I," is in the middle of some very well-known words,
and frankly, I believe that all this strutting's for the birds!
(Chorus) We gobble up the blessings,
how often do we give?
Or, do we simply brag about,
how perfect we can live?
We Christians should be careful,
any time we start to strut,
for that's when we're in danger,
of getting our feathers plucked!
2. It's only by God's blessings that we are even here,
it's only by His Grace that we can make it year to year:
I'm glad our Heavenly Father really is a God of love,
we should be giving thanks instead
of trying to strut our stuff.
(Second Corus) Let him who thinks he stands,
take heed lest he should fall,
Our Father could replace us,
and it wouldn't take much at all:
we Christians should be carefull,
any time we start to strut,
for that's when we're in danger,
of getting our feathers plucked!
(Tag) I'm special in the Lord's sight,
I know that this is true:
but I've got nothing to brag about,
for you, are, special, too!
